OCIABC helps SOLV Clean Up Oregon Beach
OCIABC members and friends joined more than 5,000 other volunteers to clean debris from the Oregon coastline Saturday, March 25. Sponsored by SOLV, the event yielded 1,000 tons of trash -- a new record.
"Our group worked Cannon Beach where we picked up wine bottles, plastic, Styrofoam and other items harmful to sea life," said Barb Bryant, who coordinated OCIABC's participation.
"One of the more amazing discoveries was a thick, 25-foot piece of rope that Kurt Koenig and Barbara Kommer found. They think it may have torn loose from a huge ship and washed ashore. It took three people to haul it away."
